Calico Captive is based on an actual narrative diary published in 1807. Teenager Miriam Willard and her sister, brother-in-law, and their three children awake one morning to the terrifying cries of an Indian raid. Miriam and her family are taken captive and forced to make the hazardous march north to Montreal, where a life of hard work and slavery is rumored to await.
