Litmus Paper

Using litmus paper is a simple way to test for the presence of an acid or base. Red litmus paper (which actually looks pink) turns blue in a base, and blue litmus paper (which actually looks purple) turns red in an acid. If the solution is neutral (neither acid nor base), no color change will occur. Litmus paper is easy to use and shows immediate, colorful results. Used in Year 1, Unit 9.
